Nitric Acid

Nitric Acid:

1. Product Introduction: Nitric acid is a strong acid with powerful oxidizing and corrosive properties. Its chemical formula is HNO3. It has a melting point of -42°C and a boiling point of 78°C. Nitric acid is highly soluble in water, and pure nitric acid solutions are colorless and transparent at room temperature.

Nitric acid is unstable and can decompose, releasing nitrogen dioxide when exposed to light or heat. The nitrogen dioxide dissolves in the nitric acid, giving it a pale yellow color. It should be stored in brown bottles in a dark place to avoid light. It can also be stored in plastic bottles with an opaque outer layer (although this is not highly recommended). It should never come into contact with reducing agents.

2. Product Specifications:

- Chemical Formula: HNO3

- Boiling Point: 83°C

- Density: Mass fraction of 69.2%, 1.42 g·cm-3

- Flash Point: 120.5°C

- Water Solubility: Concentrations of over 98%

- Melting Point: -42°C

3. Product Uses: Nitric acid is primarily produced industrially by the ammonia oxidation process and is used for the manufacture of fertilizers, explosives, nitrates, etc. In organic chemistry, a mixture of concentrated nitric acid and concentrated sulfuric acid is an important nitration reagent.
