Propylene glycol can absorb moisture from the air and also absorb hydrogen sulfide, hydrogen cyanide, and sulfur dioxide. It is sparingly soluble in benzene, chloroform, carbon tetrachloride, carbon disulfide, petroleum ether, and oils. Propylene glycol is a structural component of glycerol triesters.
